| Statement |
|
My family has always been
involved in both the visual and performing arts,
consequently, I have been exposed to it since
birth. My love of painting and printmaking is a
more recent experience. A long search for a form of
expression finally felt right when I took up
painting in 1986. Although it is a complex and
often difficult relationship with the canvas and
paint, it is a love affair that will last a
lifetime. It is difficult to use words for a form
of expression that I fell needs no words. Once a
painting or print if finished, it has taken on a
life of its own and I can only hope that the viewer
creates his/her own relationship with the work.
I have been greatly inspired by
several wonderful, creative teachers at the
University of Alaska, UNLV, Coupeville Art Center
and other workshops. |
