March 2008
Perennial favorite and native son Michael Hoffman will display new works in oil & fresco during the March exhibit at Museo Gallery.
Michael works in the abstract, allowing for individual interpretations on universal themes. One common theme in Hoffman¹s work is the relationship between rigid linear form and the organic flow of nature, order, and disorder. ³I feel this is reflective in many ways of our society and people¹s longing for something more than the sterility of technology in our modern lives." Dan Ishler masterfully mixes salt, copper, sawdust, cardboard, and wood to create unique finishes and colors on his pit-fired pottery. "The firing process will dictate the majority of the coloration and tonal quality of each piece, depending on placement in the pit and contact with other pieces and the burning wood." explains Ishler.
