September 2007
During the month of September, Museo will
exhibit new works by Alice Corning, Jennifer de la Cruz and Kathryn
Trigg.
Ms. Corning began
working working in clay in the late 1960s in Manhattan.
She moved to
California, and has a studio there where she produces both sculptural
and functional forms. The human figure emerged as a major theme some
years ago. She explores scale as she slowly builds each piece, some are
miniature, some massive. She likes to think of her work as going out
into the world, encouraging peaceful contemplation. Her work is featured
in important private collections and museums throughout the country.

Jennifer de la
Cruz is a painter, printmaker and musical performer based in Seattle. Her
collage paintings are detailed ethereal works which depict her interest in
"perceptions of identity and the potential for transformation", as well as
studying "the long shadow cast by one's cultural heritage..". She describes
her works as visual poems, and they are indeed mesmerizing, pulling viewers
into her world of elaborate imagery and color.

Kathryn Trigg, with a background in painting,
textile design and printmaking, has created a new body of work titled
"Structure". In this series she explores simple architectural
elements, windows and building shapes, and gives each work a densely
textured surface. She layers rice papers with rich backgrounds of collage,
monotype and woodblock prints. The resulting fields of color and shape
are spontaneous, contemporary and bold.
