April 2007
Opening on April 7th with a reception from 5-8 p.m., Museo will show new
work from four artists who call Whidbey Island home.
Tim
Leonard is a sculptor whose medium is steel. His sleek contemporary
forms, sophisticated and elegant, belie the technical difficulty of his
craft. The smooth brushed surfaces have the luster of a grey pearl, and a
quiet alluring drama.

Alicia
Lomnè is a glass artist who was born into a family of gifted
professional artists. She has achieved national recognition as a master of
the pâte de verre technique. This is a method of working in glass that is
both ancient and very challenging. Her pieces are beautifully executed in
gorgeous saturated colors. They are delicate and fragile, not unlike the the
plant life she honors in this new series of work.

In her 'Cabinets of Curiosity' series
Maxine
Martell explores in detail
scenes from the everyday - media, sketches, memory. These images come
together in tall 'vertical poems' - layer upon layer of moments seen and
caught on canvas, just like curios arranged on the shelf of a cabinet.

Lana Sundberg is a painter who uses much more than paint. She works with
many materials to create dramatic expressive works drenched in rich colors.
She uses wax, cloth, collage and paints to celebrate nature, still lives and
sometimes fanciful amusing imagery.
